Canvas Care Tips

Our 100% solution-dyed fabric offers excellent protection against stains, so you have nothing to worry about. Mold, mildew and any tough stains should be addressed promptly using a clean damp cloth, sponge, or soft brush to best ensure full removal from the fabric surface. Do not use harsh laundry soap or chemical detergent as they may damage the protective UV coating on your cover.

Note: Bleach will not affect the color vibrancy of the solution-dyed fiber. However, we do not advise using bleach if you are surrounded by a body of water or another environment that could be affected.

If you have access to a professional awning cleaning firm, you should inquire about their experience working with solution-dyed boat canvas fabrics. Do not dry clean FortGuard fabric.

For everyday maintenance, brush or vacuum any loose dirt from the surface of the fabric.

Securely store your top canvas using the zip-on Bimini boot cover, keeping it clean and well-maintained when not in use or when your boat is in tow. A complimentary storage boot comes included with every top canopy and kit. Plus, our boot cover replacements are also individually available.
Before storing your boat canopy top, we advise that you make sure that it is thoroughly dry first. If not, moisture may get trapped within the folded-up top, which could eventually result in mold or mildew growth. Otherwise, you can fold up your top with a dry towel layered in between to absorb any dampness.

Rinse zippers and buckles every few months with clean water to clear them of salt and dirt. You can also treat both with a water-resistant silicone spray or a Teflon gel to preserve them against rust.

Just like with your Bimini top cover, we recommend cleaning your Bimini top's metal frame once a month to clear off the build up of dirt, dust, and salt that comes as a downside of that cool and refreshing sea breeze.
There are great cleaners on the market that are specially designed for marine-grade stainless steel and aluminum application. This is the best type of cleaning solution to use on your Bimini top frame because it won't wear down the metal's protective coating. When wiping down the support poles, always use a soft, non-abrasive cloth to avoid scratches.
As an effective and protective finishing touch, use a metal polish, followed up by waxing, to keep your frame rust-free.

Step 3

We recommend enlisting the help of another person to assist you in properly removing the cover. Lift the cover straight up in order to prevent it from catching on any corners. Once off, spread it out on the ground where's there enough space, so you can sweep off any debris, and make sure there's no moisture trapped inside.
